I was inspired by this quote by Oprah Winfrey. She’s one of the most successful women in the world, so she must have had some major experience with failure to come up with a quote like that.
First, I want to say that if you’ve ever thought of yourself as a failure in life, you are not alone. I think this is a thought that crosses many minds at one point or another. We do not succeed by waking up one day, graced with success at achieving a skill or becoming wealthy or blessed.
We wake up every day, set a plan, fail at something over and over, until we succeed – a small step toward a larger success we may envision.
You are not a failure. You are a human being with a mind that has the ability to create and a heart that has the ability to show love to others.
I myself have failed over and over and over again. I have not achieved my major vision in life, but I am working toward it every day. I have worked on various novels for over 10 years, and guess what? I still haven’t finished one. But I’m still working toward finishing one, and more after that, and it doesn’t matter how long it takes me, I’m going to put work into it every day until I finish one.
I never finished college. I dropped out of my major, Music Ed, after having a difficult time with my mental health. I tried going back, however I currently have a 3 year old that I want to devote my time to while he is young. When I go back later, it will be for something I love learning about: Psychology.
This blog is part of my vision for success – part of the legacy of my written word.
I may not have finished a book, but I have been successful at sharpening my writing craft every day.
I may not have finished college, but I am a dedicated mother, successfully loving my son and shaping him into the human being he will become.
I may not have a successful blog, but some have read my articles and they have caused those individuals to think.
I know people in my life who believe they are a failure, and they absolutely are not. I am inspired by them. They are people who have tried many different things and that may have failed at those activities, but they have had so many other doors opened to them, so many more interests they are now pursuing. They are not failures. They are living, breathing inspiration. They are people who have not given up on making a difference in the world.
You are not your mistakes. You are not your failures. Failures are in the past. Your success is in the future.
Please don’t give up.
